COVID-19
Pandemic ; New Normal Waves!
Remember January 1, 2020? The year was supposed to be lit. It was supposed to be my year: it was supposed to be everyone’s year, collectively. But the months rolled by, evolving into the horror show that is now halfway through this school year. A bad experience to all Filipino people who has nothing to do but the only way is to pray, thanks to my God for the strength and faith on fire
Graduation came and went without a party nor gathering. No high fives or hugs. Just 1 meter to mark the emptiness of my past four years. And summer does not feel like summer when beaches are close and vacation are cancelled. Ordinarily, there would always be senior high school to look forward to. But those modules and activities mute that experience.
Social distancing stickers are like confetti everywhere,
littering shopping malls and drug stores and supermarkets. Hand sanitizer
dispensers are the new gumball machines — dispensing false handfuls of
safety. The masks are insufferable. I can’t hear you. Are you smiling or just squinting, trying to read
the sign saying that this mask is now required by law to enter the premises?
This is the
reality that we are facing now! We are the prisoner in the jail and our action
are limited only. Goodbye to the happy and sweet date with my former classmate
in Grade 10 Rizal, Goodbye my old characteristics and personality because
starting from the very beginning of pandemic, the new normal waves!
